Training with Kettlebells
Kettlebell training has a wide range of benefits which is why we often include it in our client’s training programmes.
The kettlebell is designed so the weight is all centred below the handle instead of spread either side like a barbell or dumbells. So when performing exercises with a kettlebell there is an increased gravitational pull requiring more control and causing you to use a much wider range of muscles. One particular group of muscles that benefit from kettlebell training are the stabiliser muscles. Stabilisers assist your other muscles (mobilisers) to do their job properly, for example when you’re doing everyday activities like walking, shopping or bending forward to pick up shopping bags, your stabilisers are working all the time to support your spine.
All in all the kettlebell is a great all-rounder that’s great for strengthening the core, back, legs, arms and shoulders.
But whichever exercise you perform with a kettlebell it's important to use the correct technique so you don’t injure yourself.
